A good reference

This is probably your least expensive option for buying a book of standard details. It's best coverage is of timber and concrete. Structural steel leaves a bit to be desired, but isn't bad if you only want bolted connections (primarily beam to beam). Extensive coverage of timber details. Would be nice to add one or two line explanations of why a particular detail would be employed. If nothing else, you can hand a photocopy of a detail to your CAD tech as a starting point.

Pretty basic and standard details for wood and masonry construction type especially. Very light on steel and concrete. I guess it's okay for students / drafters / recent graduate engineers.

Old, but still very useful. Provide plenty of example. Composite members are not covered well.
